Pope Francis Dies at 88

Vatican City, LOGIC.co.id – Sad news has emerged from the Vatican. Pope Francis, the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, passed away at the age of 88 on Monday morning (April 21, 2025), local time.

The official announcement was made by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, the Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, in a solemn statement.

"At 7:35 a.m. this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis, returned to the house of the Father. His entire life was devoted to serving God and His Church," Farrell said.

"With deep gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we entrust Pope Francis's soul to the infinite love and mercy of God."

Health Condition Before Death

Prior to his passing, Pope Francis had been hospitalized at Gemelli Hospital in Rome since February 14, 2025, due to pneumonia. After 38 days of intensive treatment, he was allowed to return to his residence at Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican to continue his recovery.

Although his health had not fully recovered, Pope Francis still appeared in public during the Easter Sunday celebration at St. Peter's Square on Sunday (April 20, 2025). That moment would be his final public appearance.
